So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves… or it might destroy her.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ!!!
I was wrong when I said I wouldn't be able to read this book in a day, I finished it in under 24 hours, and at 486 pages, that says a lot! This is the first dystopian type book I have read, and I can honestly say that I am hooked. Veronica Roth pulled me in during the first chapter and kept me wanting more through the whole book. The whole thing was captivating, thrilling, and a little edgy. Throw a little bit of romance in to the mix, and this is my perfect book. It lives up to the all the hype that is has been given and I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.
I loved the characters in Divergent, the main character Beatris aka Tris, goes from being shy and reserved to bold and courageous. I loved seeing her transformation. She has to make very hard decisions, and does so with no holds barred. I love that she is not a "perfect" teen, she's not exceptionally beautiful, she's the run of the mill kind of girl, like most girls in society.
The other characters in the book were also easy to love... and hate. Four, Tris's love interest, was the one character that I adored the most. He was calm and intense as well as protective and rough all at the same time. Tris's friends were lovable and stood by her in all her decisions, like true friends do. The "villian", Eric was easy to hate, Veronica Roth does an amazing job at describing her characters.
I don't want to give away the whole book, so I will leave out the main details, however I will say that Divergent By Veronica Roth is a must read for 2011. I will be waiting
impatiently until the next book, Insurgent, due out in 2012!
