Head over to I am A Reader Not a Writer to sign up! I'm super excited, it looks like I started my book blog at the perfect time!! Just gotta figure out the perfect thing to give away ;)
August 1st to 7th

What is a giveaway hop?
Simple - Each participating blog hosts a giveaway and then we link up together allowing our followers to hop easily from one giveaway to another.
For followers this means lots of chances to win free books.
For blogs hosting a giveaway it means lots of new visitors.
It's a win-win!

Each participating blog will host their own giveaway. There is no requirement on the minimum or maximum value of your giveaway. It's up to you to decide. You can give away books, swags, amazon gift cards, or anything else you can think of that has to do with books. Your giveaway can be as simple or as elaborate as you want.

Currently Reading ~ Divergent By Veronica Roth

I'm starting this bad boy as soon as I get home from church today, and I have to say I am super excited. The reviews on Goodreads and Amazon have Divergent By Veronica Rothright up there with The Hunger Games series, that I STILL have not read, but everyone raves about.

Big thanks to Melissa from Must Read Faster, I won this book in her giveaway during Blogfest 11! At 487 pages it might take me more than a day to finish :)

Thirst No.1 Review

                                                     About Thirst No. 1
    My Rating 2.5 stars

"As to blood -- ah, blood, the whole subject fascinates me. I do like that as well, warm and dripping, when I am thirsty. And I am often thirsty....

Alisa has been in control of her urges for the five thousand years she has been a vampire. She feeds but does not kill, and she lives her life on the fringe to maintain her secret. But when her creator returns to hunt her, she must break her own rules in order to survive.
Her quest leads her to Ray. He is the only person who can help her; he also has every reason to fear her. Alisa must get closer to him to ensure her immortality. But as she begins to fall in love with Ray, suddenly there is more at stake than her own life...."

In all honesty I haven't read a Christopher Pike book since middle school, and I remember thinking then that he was the worlds best author and I wanted to be just like him! However, I think adulthood has changed me. While I still think he is an amazing author, there was something about Thirst that rubbed me the wrong way.

There are actually 3 different books in Thirst No. 1. The first, The Last Vampire, was entertaining enough to keep my interest but the one thing that I couldn't stand was the main character seems so full of herself. The first 2 chapters are all about how kick ass she is, and it's from her perspective, so she sounds like a conceited little snot. Yes, she is a 5,000 year old vampire, she should be able to take out just about anyone... but not while remaining perfect-looking. The way she falls in love so quickly also got to me, I understand that it's a book, but she literally fell in love in a day, way too naive for a 5,000 year old vamp if you ask me.

Black Blood
Things started to get interesting for me and there was a lot of action, almost bordering too much to be believable, but it was gory and that's my kind of vampire book. There was a lot of killing by the bad ass vamp and she seemed to remain untouched by it, the true nature of a vampire. One thing that I do love about this part of the book is that it touched a lot into the past, and I really got a feel for the way things would have been 5,000 years ago.

Red Dice
Here's where I almost put the book back down. There was a lot of action in this part of the book as well, but there was not enough back story here. In one part she says that she can fly an Apache helicopter, but it never says why she knows how to. It went back to the annoying "I can do anything because I'm old" type of feeling. However, the ending left me wanting to know what happens next, so I will be sure to check out the next book in the series and see if it gets better for me.

Have you read Thirst No. 1? If so, what did you think?

My very first post!

One might think that I could come up with a better title for my first post than that huh? Well, being the indecisive chick that I am, it took me hours to find the perfect design and template for this here new blog and  I'm all out of creativity at the moment. It's still not perfect, but we'll work on that. This is just a quick hello to say welcome and let ya know a little bit about me.

So without further ado, HELLO! I'm Sheila. I am a wannabe author, I have one million and two stories floating around in my noggin. About half of them are on paper, okay okay about 2 of them are on paper. The rest are waiting around up there, wanting out. I plan to use this blog to journal my journey (ha) of becoming a published author and to review all the amazing books that are out there waiting for me to get my hands on them.

I love reading, I love being able to pick up a book and escape the madness that is my life, even if it is only in 5 minute increments, I don't think I could go a day without reading. I can't say that I have a favorite author, or even a favorite book. It's just not fair to put a favorite label on just one book. I can always find something that I love about every book I read, even if it takes me a year to read it. Just simply knowing that someone created a story and characters, and made them all work together is amazing to me.

When I say my life is madness I'm not saying my life isn't amazing, it really is. I have a 6 year old little girl, and a 2 year old little boy. They are both super spoiled and totally loveable. My daughter is a little spitfire, she can outwit just about anybody, including me some days and I love the way she don't let anyone put her down. At 6 years old, that's an amazing quality, one that I hope she keeps forever. My son is a big Momma's Boy, and I hope he is forever. He's very loving in the morning time and very ornery every other minute of the day.  I couldn't picture life without them. Then, there is my husband. My oh so VERY loud and hardworking husband. I am a blessed woman.

Well, enough about me. If I keep going, I just might scare any potential followers off. I've been told that I am a random moment, so if you decide to follow (which will in turn give you my undying love and appreciation :)) then be prepared for my randomness! Feel free to leave a comment with a link to your blog and I will check you out. Thanks for reading!
